Now that winter is here, women need to pay more attention to dry skin. As the air dries out, so does skin. It will be important to keep plenty of lotion handy to make sure that skin is moisturized adequately. Areas like elbows and hands always require extra moisturizer during the winter. Make sure that the lotion use is not too greasy, and don’t apply too much. It’s better to reapply several times a day. For the face, try a more delicate lotion and look for one that also provides protection against sunburn. Even with the sun lower in the sky and less daylight, it is still possible to burn. One of the most successful lotions available for those tough areas on the arms and legs is oatmeal-based. This moisturizer not only smoothes the skin, it helps heal cracks and rough areas. The feet are another area that demand a moisturizer applied a couple times a day. Heels often crack and need help. Again, an oatmeal moisturizer can be successfully used. In extreme cases, you may want to apply a lot of lotion before bed, and wear a pair of soft socks to give the feet time to really absorb the lotion and soften up those cracked heels.
